I
ordered an electronic patent but I don't have it yet?
The patent
might be lengthy, and the system might be busy spooling the
image. Give it a few more minutes. If you feel you have waited
long enough (15-30 mins) please feel free to give us a call.
How
long does an
electronic patent take to obtain?
Anywhere
from a few seconds (yes, seconds) to 15-20 mins. The norm is
about 3-4 mins.
I
ordered a patent but you sent me a message telling me there is a
problem with the patent or it is a "bad" patent number.
If you feel
that the patent number is good, and has not been withdrawn, you can
either re-order the number yourself, or give us a call to rectify the
problem. We are dealing with the Internet...thousands of
connections are made in the process of retrieving
your patent. Our system is about as good as it gets, but
problems can crop up...that is why we welcome your call.
Each
time I click
the order button, it tells me that there is something wrong
with the
number(s), and I need to recheck them. Why?
Do not use
"spaces" between foreign codes and the numbers.

here for a complete listing patents available through the
PTO Runner system.
I
was printing one of the
patents in ADOBE, and it skipped some pages, or blank pages printed out.
If you can
"SEE" the pages, then this is an Adobe issue, but we can
help. As you are about to print, a dialog/menu screen will pop
up. You will need to change the settings to the lowest
resolution that your printer will allow.
Typically
what is happening is as follows. You are sent (by us) a 300 DPI
(dots per inch) PDF file, your computer opens it up and splits each
dot into 4 separate dots to fit with your 1200 DPI printer, and then
tries to re-combine the 4 dots back down to 1 dot -- *phew*,
that is a lot of work. If you tell your printer settings to
treat it as a 300 DPI image, things will go a lot smoother.
Adobe is a great program, but it has limits.
I
know I ordered a patent, I received it, printed it, and somehow I
lost the PDF file, if I re-order the patent, will I be charged again?
No need,
just log-on to the system and retrieve the web back-up copy.
What
is this ZIP file thing you have added?
We have
added the feature of zipping all of the patents into a single
file. This saves you the trouble of
"right-mouse-clicking" on every file to download it to your
computer. Once the file has been downloaded, you will need to
"un-zip" it. Yes, this will require software that
most likely did not come with your computer. Having said
that, there is a very good chance that you already have a copy of an
un-zipping program built into your computer. To test your
computer, you may download a zipped sample patent [HERE].
If the software is installed on your computer, it should
automatically open a program within your computer when you
double-click on the icon it created for the zip file. Follow
the directions, and be sure to opt out of any individual folder
option (if there is one) -- this will speed things along for you when
you decide to print/view the patents.
If you do
not have a program for unzipping files, may we direct you to a
company called PKZIP.

I
need to send the patents to someone else. Is there an easy way
to do this?
Yes.
We have added a new feature on the PTO Runner screen; the ability to
direct the order to a third party. You simply enter the e-mail
address of the recipient in the box provided to the right, and the
patents will be sent to them as well as the web site.
If
I order the patents for a third party, do I need to receive the
patents in my e-mail box? I would prefer not to.
No
problem. You will note that there is an area in the screen
called OPTIONS. In this area you can select to have the patents
sent to you and the web site, or just the web site. If you
choose to have the patents sent to just the web site, the system will
do just that. If you enter an e-mail address in the lower box,
it will send the patents to the web site AND to the third party
recipient, but not to your e-mail box.
What
are pre-paid units?
We are
offering to our existing customers, in good standing, the option of
pre-paying for the PTO Runner patent service. Currently you pay
$3.00 for US and $9.00 for foreign patents. With the pre-pay
service, you can purchase units. One unit, one US Patent, three
units equals one foreign patent. The units are sold at a
reduced rate of $2.50 each. A savings of 50¢ per US
Patent. Foreign, with a value of three units, are reduced to
$7.50 each!
